Preliminary figures show bids were up this year compared to 2022, as the Rotary Club of Terrace held its annual Online Fundraising Auction over the weekend.

Auction chair Brian Downie says this year's bids totalled $47,842 -- which is a three thousand dollar increase over last year's preliminary figures.

In addition, local businesses donated a total of $3,450 in cash to the club.

The auction was held Saturday and Sunday at the Terrace Sportsplex, with local and area businesses donating a total of 393 items which were auctioned off to raise money for the club.

The proceeds (minus a few expenses for advertising, etc) are then used to fund worthy projects in and around Terrace.

Among the club's recent donations:

-- $10,000 to the Dr REM Lee Hospital Foundation  to assist in the purchase of a Bathing Tub & Lift for the Skeena Unit at Terraceview Lodge

-- $2,000 to Terrace Branch 13 of the Royal Canadian Legion for their sign project

-- finishing touches on the McConnell Estates Gazebo project, which was started in 2019 by both the Terrace and Skeena Valley Rotary Clubs

-- $8,000 to the Terrace Bluebacks Swim Club towards their Capacity Building project

-- $3,000 to KidSport Terrace, to help local kids afford the costs of participating in sports activities.

-- $2000 donation to the Outdoor Artist Collective's 2023 Sima Festival

As always, Terrace Rotary thanks local and area businesses for their donations -- and thanks local residents for their ongoing support!

We couldn't do it without you!
