The Rotary Club of Terrace is pleased to donate $8,000 to the Terrace Bluebacks Swim Club towards their Capacity Building project.

On Friday (Feb 10), members of the Bluebacks received the cheque from Club Secretary Dave Merritt and President Manuela Krisinger

Like so many groups and organizations, the Terrace Bluebacks have been struggling to rebuild their capacity as they recover from the COVID pandemic.

The Bluebacks were already dealing with major challenges as the pandemic first hit in 2020, having had to deal with the shutdown of the Terrace Aquatic Centre the previous year as it underwent extensive renovations.

In 2021, they suffered another blow when they lost their head coach halfway through the season.

Since then, the Bluebacks have been busy trying to build capacity in three main areas:  coaching, officials (needed to allow the club to host sanctioned meets) and shoring up the board of governance.

Terrace Rotary, recognizing the value of the swim club to the community and its young swimmers, is happy to support this effort through an $8,000 contribution from funds raised through Rotary events such as the annual Wild Duck Race in the summer and the Terrace Rotary Auction in November.
